In 1984, Dr. Seaborg with Governor of New York, Mario Cuomo and civil rights activist, Jesse Jackson, at the annual banquet of the International Platform Association, of which Dr. Seaborg served as president for a number of years. Both men made a bid for for the Democratic nomination for the Presidency that year
